BHALIL. Some videos filmed in the village
The first images in this documentary, those showing the mountains, do not concern the village of Bhalil. These mountains look more like those of Moulay Driss Zerhoun north of Meknes, perhaps those of Chaouen as stated at the beginning of the report. Furthermore, while the images that follow already show Bhalil, the commentary continues to refer to Chaouen. It is only at 0 min 50 sec that there is mention of ‘another village’. Then the discussion returns to Chaouen... Total confusion! For my part, I am convinced that it is indeed Bhalil, with familiar places and faces.
Silent documentary showing several locations in Morocco during the colonial era. There is approximately 1 min 30 sec on Bhalil (from 4.37 to 6.07). This sequence shows a curious ceremony. I do not know what it is. Several explanations are possible: wedding, celebration, ritual, protest...
